New Barbershop In Keswick— The Dapper Den

• We opened on May 1st! Our shop hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9am-5pm. Anthony is working the shop full time with Bonnie in part-time, as needed—at the start. Over the months to come we will gauge if our schedules are appropriate and make adjustments to add additional availability as needed. 
• Please always check back regularly for updates of any special or holiday hours as they will be posted here and on our social media. 

• Additionally, Anthony’s mobile barbering services are still being offered on Mondays for his existing clients who cannot visit the barbershop.

• Yes, and no. We realize not everyone likes to be held to yet another appointment and some simply enjoy the freedom of being able to walk-in at their convenience for a haircut. However, other gentlemen cannot stand the idea of a wait (when there is one or be turned away day end if there are too may people waiting close to closing time)… therefore we have implemented a ‘hybrid appointment booking system’. 
• Meaning at least one appointment with time priority is available at the top of each hour, in at least one of our two barber chairs. The hybrid model allows for the availability of accommodating a limited number of priority time slot appointments— PLUS our new local, and/or existing loyal walk-in clientele who visits us from Newmarket and surrounding areas. 

*Please note that appointments will only hold the courtesy of having first priority— if they are on time! Sometimes we may run ahead or behind but these appointments guarantee you much less of a wait… if any at all!  (we recommend arriving 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.)

In fairness, the next walk-in client will immediately be sat in the barber’s chair if an appointment is late. 

• Yes, we offer discounts for ‘Senior Gentlemen’ age 60 years young and over—haircut for $28… and also for ‘Jr. Gentlemen’ age 15 and under— haircut for $25. We will not try to guess your age so if you feel a discount applies to you please let us know prior to payment. 
• For our local emergency service responders we offer a well deserved discounted price of $28—just show us your valid ID or badge. 
• We also recently added a member to member discount for Georgina Chamber of Commerce Members available through August— see the member page for details.
• HST/GST is already included in all of our pricing, please see our service menu page for more info.
• A loyalty ‘stamp‘ card is also available for anyone who wishes to participate, please just ask for one if we forget to offer it! One stamp per visit.

• We only use high-quality hair products from trusted brands that we have experience with utilizing to ensure the best results for our clients. While we plan to carry some fantastic Canadian made products like ‘ Biolage, Rocky Mountain Barber Company’—we are not exclusive to any one specific brand. 

*If you have any sensitivities or allergies to any specific types of fragrances and products please let us know. Feel free to state that you prefer we not put anything in your hair, or that you would like to pass on the aftershave. We promise we are used to it and will not be offended by special requests!

• Generally speaking we are not like them, and they are not like us. I will use a restaurant comparison here just to say “there are many tastes and flavours”—not just one suited for everyone. Thats why there are so many great options. There are places for all styles! Barbers really only compete with themselves and are only as good as their last haircut— as a restaurant is with the last dish served.

At ‘The Dapper Den’, we are traditional, old fashioned, and well... plain old barbers who well, really are getting older. With over 30 years of classic experience we are simply not comfortable with providing trendy and intricate modern fades, designs, or line-ups.

We are firmly stuck in the past and set in our ways, we do not have round lights, and we are terrible with Instagram because we do not take many pics and videos. Many of our clients are older and are uncomfortable with the whole “Do you mind if we post your picture online?”… they just want a shave or a haircut, and sometimes both, without the fanfare. 

• Unfortunately, we don’t have much experience with ladies hair. Years ago, while still in hairdressing school is where we decided to focus solely in becoming master barbers who specialize in men’s haircuts and shaving. So as such that’s where our experience has been centred for most of our careers.  Proper ladies’ hairdressing involves a lot more after the cut style work than barbering, and it’s a completely different specialty.  If we ever decide to expand and offer this service… which is doubtful, it would be limited to simple, short, no-fuss styles that align confidently with our skillset.  

• As far as modern fades, skin fades, line ups, bursts and what all else newer fades are called— we simply have no experience with those styles. We are more old fashion clipper to scissor blended haircut style barbers. It was by choice to stay focused only on the classics. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks—especially when it already knows enough of them. 

We are happy to refer you to other local shops who excel in these particular services. 

• Yes! We are fully accessible however: door drop off always a great option if you have a chauffeur;) So I won’t lie, the parking here can sometimes be a slight challenge depending on time of year. But there are many spots available all around the shop in each direction. We do have on-street parking spaces available directly across the street on the South side of Church Street —adjacent to the parkette. With additional spots further down the hill and even over on the Queensway. There are also lots of parking spaces at the post office (not in the marked ones for trucks!) —all of which are within a quick 1 min walk.

We get this question asked a-lot, especially as a shop that accepts walk-ins. Currently I would say Wednesday’s and Thursdays are best for walking in… however if everyone reads this those two days may fast become our busiest! 

Our best advice is if you are worried about waiting, consider booking one of our online appointments for time priority—available at the top of each hour.
